Reminiscing

25 years ago today, somewhere in Kieni, I was coming from Sunday school with my beste. We got to a place called ha Wanja (literally Wanja's place) and she was sitting outside mouth agape listening to the Voice of Kenya telling peeps to stay at home. This was around 11am and they played "safari ya Japan" after that so the coup was already an attempted coup.

The next thing I remember is m-o-1 coming on in the evening and quoting that song that goes something like "ukibitia wegine usinibite"

If it was today, you can imagine the amount of misinformation that would be spread around via sms...

shows how much things have changed. the plotters would have had to shut down several tv & radio stations as well as mobile companies and ISP's to control the information space

I remember going to watch helicopters shooting towards eastleigh airforce base with my parents/uncle as a kid all over sudden heal broke loose and everyone was running.

Wonder whether it would ever be successful knowing how peace loving were are.

another pointer that freeing up the media is good for national security. imagine the way it was easy for thees guys to send terror on kenyans since there was only one outlet.
